McKay Sylvester McKay, first child of Alexander McKay and Mary Sackett, born 2 Aug. 1759, baptized 30 Aug. 1761, both in Amenia, Dutchess County, NY. Sylvester died in Union, Chenango County, NY. in 1804 per Wadsworth records. His burial place is unknown. Sylvester married Elizabeth Bostwick in New Preston, CT. on 13 Sep. 1782. On the 1800 census, Sylvester is in Union, Tioga County, NY. Note: The town of Union is in Tioga County, N.Y, and that is where Sylvester’s Intestate information was found. Elizabeth McKay and a Daniel LeRoy, ESQ., were given the administration to sell or dispose all goods and chattels of Sylvester McKy on 10 May 1804. (Intestate info from Mary Lou Petrie) Elizabeth’s death date is unknown. Taken from, “Susquehanna Settlers, Vol. I, 1755-1795, pg.85...Sylvester McKay is listed as a Luzerne County, PA settler in the injustices against settlers.
